Happy Independence Day.

I hope everyone had a "blast" on the 4th. There are lots and lots of opportunities to see me live his month.

Every Sunday from 11:00am to 1:00pm, I'll be playing at The Brooklyn Farmacy in Carroll Gardens.

Every Wednesday at 6:00pm, you can catch me at Hill & Dale at 115 Allen St, right off Houston St and in Manhattan. $1 Oysters with a drink.

This Wednesday, July 8th (after the Hill & Dale show), you can catch me at Hank's Saloon. Tentative time is 8:00pm, probably will be a bit later. This show is gonna be good. My buddy Stephen will be joing me on the washboard and kick drum, and Nick from Leland Sundries will be playing harmonica on a couple tracks. Leland Sundries will also be playing, and Brown Widow, some great folks I met on tour, are coming up from Wilmington NC to play a set.

July 12th, after the Brooklyn Farmacy show, I'll be playing at 4:00pm at Lucky Dog in Williamsburg. Stephen will be joining me again on the washboard and kickdrum. Lucky Dog is always a blast.

Don't forget, my new album "Tin Pan Alley Blues" is now available. If you want to help me out the most, buy it straight from CD Baby here.

Hope to see you out and about.

Happy Spring.

It was a long haul winter, that's for sure. Despite the weather, there was a lot of good stuff.  I released my debut album "Tin Pan Alley Blues" which is available at all fine digital retailers (or my website, if you want to do me a solid). I have physical copies at all my shows.

"What shows?" you may be asking yourself.

Well, you can find me every Sunday at The Brooklyn Farmacy in Carroll Gardens.  It's a great little joint. They've got some wild sundaes and a great brunch.  That's when you can catch me there--during brunch on Sundays. From 11 am to 1 pm to be exact.

I'm also playing in Manhattan at Caffe Vivaldi on April 18th.  It's an early show--2:00pm.  Another brunch deal, so come on out.  Have a mimosa and some eggs. Caffe Vivaldi is my favorite room in Manhattan.  It's a swell deal. Very old fashioned. You'll want to be there.

May's gonna be a bit more scarce. I'm getting married and doing some traveling with the misses. So come on out this month! And buy my album!

Thanks again--

Happy 2015.

Just a quick update from the Ramblin' Andy headquarters.

All the recordings are finished on my upcoming album, Tin Pan Alley Blues. The mixing and mastering is just about done and it will be out on February 17th (if all goes according to plan). It sounds great. I'm really pleased with it. February 23rd will be a CD release party at Pete's Candy Store. I'll have more details on that next month, but mark it down on your calendars. After the release, I'm going on a mid-Atlantic tour with Leland Sundries.  Dates and venues are up at www.ramblinandy.com.

There are still plenty of opportunities to catch me live this month. Every Sunday, I'm at the always fabulous Brooklyn Farmacy from 11:00am to 1:00pm. I'm also playing a new spot on January 24th in Manhattan. It's called East Village Social (126 Saint Marks Place). I'm playing from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. They've been great so far and I'm looking forward to this one. It's gonna be a blast.

I'll be sending out updates in the next couple weeks with more details on Tin Pan Alley Blues and future dates and news.

Side note: you got any connections for album reviews, send them my way. I'd love to get some press.

Side-side note: I'm looking for some local bands to play a show in Washington DC on March 1st, if you know anybody.

Thanks for listening--

December 3rd

Thanksgiving came and went. Hope everyone had a great time. I cooked a turkey and shared it with my dog. A few local guys have been backing me up off and on and it's sounding great. You'll probably catch us around town soon.

In terms of shows, you can still catch me every Sunday in Carroll Gardens at the Brooklyn Farmacy. I play from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Brooklyn Farmacy is located at 513 Henry Street.

This Saturday, December 6th, I'm playing in a Friggin' Fabulous Radio Showcase at the always delightful Caffe Vivaldi. The show starts at 1:00pm and I'm on at 3:00pm. There will be food, so come hungry.

I'll update as more shows pop up. Be sure to check the calendar page!

Below is a video that my awesome girlfriend made for my cover of Skip James' "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues." Enjoy!

July 16th--

The summer keeps on ticking by and I'm still playing every Sunday at the fabulous, vintage soda fountain that is Brooklyn Farmacy. You should definitely make a trip out, these Sunday brunches have been killer.

I've also been busy recording. You can hear one of the new tracks up above.  It's my version of the trad jazz gospel classic "Down By The Riverside."

And speaking of trad jazz, I got myself a trumpet on eBay and I'm having a blast learning to blast away on it.

June 6--

It's starting to heat up and I've got some good stuff lined up this month.

On June 7th, I'll be playing at Brooklyn Rod & Gun.  Local country stalwart Matt Wissler will be joining me on stage.  It's our only show that we got lined up together this month, so you don't want to miss it.

The June 14th show at Morgantown has been cancelled. They unexpectedly shut down. Poor Barn Burner, good luck in finding a new home (preferably in Bushwick).

And every Sunday I will be playing a pair of brunch sets at Brooklyn Farmacy.  If you haven't been to the Farm, you should check it out. It's an old fashioned Soda Fountain--ice cream and milk shakes and egg creams. It's a lot of fun. A great place to bring the kids.  I play from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  The only exception is Sunday, June 22nd. I'll be on the West Coast.

May 1st--

Spring is finally here. With the nicer weather comes more shows.

Matt Wissler, the Brooklyn country stalwart, will be joining me again for a couple of dates. On May 10th, Miller & Wissler are helping break-in the new 1 Knickerbocker restaurant and bar. 1 Knickerbocker is top notch. They spared no expense. Come early for dinner. They specialize in early 20th Century cuisine and the room was once a brothel and also a speak easy. There's a lot of history and I'm excited to be playing. We're on from 9:30pm to midnite and it's free.

On May 24th, Miller & Wissler will be playing at Red Hook Bait & Tackle. It's a great room in a fun part of town. We're on from 9:30ish to midnite-ish.

I'm also resuming my Sunday brunches at the always fabulous Brooklyn Farmacy. Starting May 18th, you can catch me from 10:30am to 1:00pm.  Bring the kids. Get a milkshake or egg cream.

November 12, 2013

It's Tuesday morning and the year's first snow is falling. I just walked the dog and I've spent the rest of the morning writing and adding new tracks to the site (so maybe check 'em out!).

I'm not gonna lie, I'm glad winter is here. I got a cup of hot coffee and I'm wearing a turtleneck sweater. It's cozy. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I'm investigating new stuffing recipes.

So I'm not so busy right now. I'm still playing at Brooklyn Farmacy a lot--I had a show on November 3rd and I'll be there again on November 17th and December 1st (and every other first and third Sunday) from noon until about 1:30.

I'm also returning to the Sidewalk Cafe, birthplace of the Anti-Folk scene, for an early evening set on December 11th at 7:00pm.  I'm sure there will a lot of additional shows popping up, too!

October 4th, 2013

Big things going on over here. It's been a super productive Autumn. I'm going to millinery school, which is going great and I've been plugging away at some proper recordings. Knock on wood, but it's going good.

There are less shows planned for this month, but I'm always adding new ones.

On Friday, October 4th, I'm playing at Mama Joy's in Bushwick. It's close to my house, so I'm bringing the electric rig. This place has FANTASTIC comfort food and a well stocked whiskey bar. I haven't played here before, but it's organized by JEFFTOWN, so it should be good!

Saturday, October 5th, I'll be returning to Pete's Candy Store. It's a last minute show, but this is one of my go to spots and it's always a joy to play at Pete's. Coincidentally, they also have good food.

And then this month I'll be playing every Sunday at Brooklyn Farmacy. I'm entertaining the masses from 11am to 12:30pm. I love this place and can't recommend it enough. Come on down and get your egg cream fix!

I'll be sure to post more in the shows section as the needed. Have a great October! Happy Halloween!

September 9, 2013

I am so excited for Autumn! We can finally cast off those cutoff shorts and tank tops and dig out the blazers and denim jackets, the sweaters and scarves, and the fancy socks and boots.

I've started taking a hat making program, which is awesome, but I've been super busy and I haven't had as much time for playing, but I do have a couple of great shows coming  up.

On September 15th, I'm heading to South Brooklyn for a brunch show at the Brooklyn Farmacy. This place is FANTASTIC. Had an amazing milkshake there last weekend and the atmosphere is top notch. I don't say this often, but it is SUPER CUTE. This is a good date spot...a show for lovers (the morning after).

Then, On Wednesday the 18th, I'm returning to Pete's Candy Store. This is hands down one of my favorite spots. Come on out for some grub and tunes and drinks and general Wednesday night debauchery.

Also, check out the Etsy store that me and the lady have started up! Need some bowties or bowtie related accessories? We got you covered! And soon...hats! You can find us at http://www.saucyotter.com/ and at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SaucyOtter. Enjoy!

August 2nd, 2013

Good lord, July just flew by. I played a lot of fun shows and I've got some goodies coming up this August. But first....

I finally bought a tube amp and I'm gonna start breaking out the electric guitar at a lot of these upcoming shows. My Gretsch guitar and Fender amp combo sounds gorgeous (not too twangy, which is often the case [instead it's got a nice warm tone similar to Chet Atkins]) and I can't wait to start gigging with them. I also got a new case for my guitar because the handle broke on the old one. It's a Mono and I gotta say that I'm impressed. I got a good deal on it (www.hellomusic.com...it was 60% off), too. Those things are expensive...

So down to the nitty gritty--this month's shows:

Every Saturday you can catch me at Goodbye Blue Monday. I have a recurring acoustic brunch set that is every Saturday at 1:00pm. That being said, I won't be performing there on August 10th...

...Because on August 10th I'm returning to the always AWESOME Skinny Dennis. It's a 3 hour marathon set, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm starting at 4:00pm. They have giant $4 Coors Banquets. I recommend it. Great bar.

On the 18th I'm finally returning to the legendary Caffe Vivaldi. It's a West Village folk music staple and I'm over-the-moon to be playing. It's a Sunday show, but at 6:00pm, so it's not gonna mess up anybody's work week! The Cohen Brothers filmed much of their upcoming movie at this joint and some Mumford dude is known to stop by to sing songs. If yer into that Mumford dude...

Then on the 19th I'm returning to Pete's Candy Store. I love this place. It might be the best room for live acoustic music in Brooklyn. I can't say enough good things about Pete's...awesome sound, gorgeous decor, chill atmosphere and great drinks and the sound system is superb...great place. And their new sound man is named Pete, which amuses me to no end! Maybe he was actually an undercover CEO.

Finally, on August 23rd I'll be heading South to Red Hook to play the always fantastic Bait & Tackle. If yer looking for a date night, I got an idea--Lobster Rolls at Red Hook Lobster Pound, then mini-golf at Brooklyn Crab, followed by some live music at Bait & Tackle. Sounds pretty suave to me.

And that's about it for now. I'll keep you posted as new dates pop up!

Thanks for checking in!

July 1st, 2013

It's shaping up to be a busy summer and this July is my busiest to date. I have a new weekly show at Goodbye Blue Monday (1087 Broadway, BK). You can catch my acoustic brunch set every Saturday at 1:00pm.

On July 7th I'll be returning to Lucky Dog in Williamsburg to play their Honky Tonk Sunday. Always an honor and a blast. I'll be playing from 3:00 to 7:00. Pack up Fido and come hang out!

July 9th I'll be playing at 8:00pm in the West Village at the Path Cafe for Friggin' Fabulous Radio's showcase. Nick always puts together a great night, and it's a charming little cafe. I always have a blast playing at the Path Cafe.

I'm also returning to Pete's Candy Store on Wednesday, July 17th. I'm on late, 11:00pm, but it would mean the world to me if you could make it out. I really like Pete's and I'm constantly kissing their butts and trying to get in their good graces!

I'll update the calendar as more shows pop up and hope to see you all out and about.

June 7th, 2013

I just learned that in the UK, it's not called cotton candy. Instead, they call it candy floss. My mind is blown.

So now that that's out of the way...

It's been busy over here at the Ramblin' Andy Headquarters.  I've got loads of shows scheduled. It's looking to be a hot summer and I'm super excited for them all.

My favorite little cafe Ange Noir just got their wine and beer license and I'm going to help break in the spot on June 13th with some of my friends. It's gonna be an early show, 7:00pm, and a lot of fun. I recommend coming out. I put it together, so I can vouch that the whole lineup is good.

I'll be back at Brooklyn's best Doctor Who bar, the Way Station, on June 20th.  The band is playing this one, and this is going to be the last show they'll be backing me. Come and bid Stephen and Joe adieu. We're on at 9:00pm.

I've got a couple brunch gigs lined up. I always love these early and lazy gigs. They're a great chance to break into my arsenal of covers. On June 15th, I'll be playing at 1:00pm at Goodbye Blue Monday and on June 30th I'll be playing Brooklyn Fire Proof's Acoustic Brunch from 1:00pm to 3:30ish.

On June 22nd I'll be participating in Cliff House presents Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours." One band is performing one song from the classic album. I'm doing "The Chain." You can find out more abotu Cliff House at www.cliffhousearts.com. They're doing cool stuff. Rumor has it, the chain will keep us together..

May 15th, 2013

Welcome to my new website! It had been a long time coming and I'm really pleased with the results. A big thanks is in order for all of Shannon Wingard's help. She designed the awesome new banner.

If you have a second, take a moment to peruse the various pages. The bio has been rewritten and there is now a video section!

The blog section is where old posts go to die, but it's fun to reminisce.

I hope you like it as much as me.

In other news, I have some fantastic shows coming up. I'll be playing at Williamsburg's newest country bar, Skinny Dennis, on Saturday May 18th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Then I'm off to New Orleans for a week!

Upon my return, I'll be debuting at Pete's Candy Store on June 4th at 10:00pm. I've wanted to play at Pete's since moving to New York. It's a real honor. Then I'll be back with my band at my favorite little Doctor Who bar, The Way Station. That goes down on June 20th. I'm also singing a song at a Fleetwood Mac cover night at Goodbye Blue Monday. It's right down the street from my home and I drew "Chains." It's going to be a fun night...one act performing one song from Fleetwood Mac's album "Rumours."

January 3rd, 2013

Happy New Year!

There's been a lot of big changes going on, most notable being that I've been playing with a lot of talented musicians and will soon be performing with a band. Keep an eye out, our first scheduled band performance is Feb. 22nd at Hank's Saloon.  We're still in the market for a drummer, so email me if interested or if you know anyone.

Thanks!

California, you were beautiful.

We (Whiskey the Dog and I) survived the storm, mostly in tact. Minor roof collapse, but in the over-all scheme of things I was pretty lucky. My superintendent, not so much...

...but that's another story for another time.

Fall is here and, if not particularly lovely, it is nice being able to wear jackets with sunglasses.

Planning Thanksgiving.

Planning to record some Christmas songs.

I should probably get some new photos up on the sites...what do you think?

Something distinguished...there should be a pipe and a shotgun and bear rug.

Over and out.

Roger Dodger.

July 19th, 2012

Hola!

There's a lot to fill you in on.  First, it's busking season. I've been out and about and been having a blast with friends. Panhandling is a lot of fun. Second, I'm booking a short California tour for Sept. I'll be in town from the 15th to the 23rd. I've got some NorCal happenings going on (see the shows section!), But I'm still looking to book a show in the Bay Area for the 17th. The 19th through 22nd, I'll be down in the desert and I've got some leads but nothing solidified yet (I might be playing with Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven and I probably just jinxed it by even mentioning it but who cares...I'm excited!!) So if anyone has any connections down there so I can get this all solidified, I'd really appreciate the help. Finally, I've been writing like mad. Got a bunch of new songs that I'm going to be debuting at Red Hook Bait and Tackle on the July 27th and I've been experimenting with soundscapes and textures and I'll be adding some more folks to the lineup VERY soon.

That's about all for now.

Adios~

June 15th, 2012

Hey there everybody--

There's a lot going on at the Ramblin' Andy Headquarters and I wanted to drop you a line and fill you in.
First, there this a new website!  I'm not very technologically savvy, so I'm kinda proud I managed to make it on my own! There's also a new facebook page,www.facebook.com/RamblinAndy.  If  you have a second, please "like" me!
Also, I've been branching out and playing around with some other folks, and they'll be joining me at some of my shows. I'm really excited about it!  It adds so much!  And it's nice having a girl help out with back-up vocals and just making me look better in general. So there will occasionally be mandolin by Sara Bouchard (www.sarabouchard.com) and percussion by Stephen Eakin (if we can get put down the 40's and get our act together) at some shows.
In terms of shows...I got a lot of cool stuff coming up.
Thursday, June 21st is not only the Summer Solstice.  It is also Make Music NY, a festival for street music!
I have three sets lined up and it would be great to see some of you out there.
At 3:00, I'm playing in front of Vintage Thrift which is at 286 3rd Ave, (btw 22nd and 23rd St.) in Manhattan.
Then at 4:00, I'm playing a set at Gizzi's on 8TH st, btwn Macdougal and W 3rd st.
Finally, I'm finishing up the night at my old favorite, the always-a-blast, BKLYN Rod & Gun. I'm on at 6:00 and there's gonna be food! Oh, and there will mandolin at this set!
It's gonna be a fun day full of sun and tunes, so come on out and hang for a bit!
Then, on June 28th, I have a show that I'm really excited about at Union Hall. This is NOT Union Pool! I made the same mistake
This one is in Park Slop at 702 Union St.  I'm kicking the night off at 8:30, and I'm followed by Old Man Luedecke, an amazing banjo player from Canada, and one of my favorite New York act, Leland Sundries is wrapping things up.  Please come on out to this one! It's my first show at Union Hall and I'd like to make an impression...plus, there's an actual stage.  I'm also hopefully debuting the 3-piece band! This show is $8. I know, I don't often play shows with a cover, but this lineup is awesome and it's well worth the cash. We'll dress up extra nice for you!
Finally, on the 4th of July I'm playing at a brand new club in Manhattan--Zirzamin. It's at 90 W Houston St and this show is FREE! This is also a new club for me and I'm hoping to get a residency, so it would mean a lot if a few of you could come out.  It's a tiny joint, so it doesn't need to be a crazy mob or anything!
Alright! I think that just about does it! I hope to see you at some of these fun events, and I hope this email finds you well.
Please pass this along and share share share!
Thanks!
Ramblin' Andy

June 1st.

It's been long overdue, but I've finally got a new website up and running for my solo material! Take a second to peruse the site and feel free to drop me a line!  Also, big thanks to Joe from www.parksinmotion.com for all the great photos!

May 25th

The site's brand new, so there's no old news...which is good news?
